blue bits. red rocks.

The overall method of American occupation is so expensive that taxpayers should shudder in horror at the prospect of ever engaging in an Iraq-style nation-building experiment again. Billions of dollars were spent to make the Green Zone just like the U.S. Americans insisted on 24/7 power and air conditioning, big-screen televisions, and food just like you’d get in a North Carolina cafeteria. All of the food, which included copious quantities of pork, was flown in from Europe or the U.S. We can complain about Halliburton all that we want, but in hearing about all of the stuff that Halliburton was asked to do, you might conclude that we got a bargain.
