This is a prime example of the continued “ghettoization” (no it is not a word but it should be) of Evangelicalism. Facebook is where everyone congregates. Many Evangelicals fear the big, bad world. Touch not, taste not, want not. They are so afraid some of the world is going to rub off on them. So what do they do? They congregate at sites prefixed with the word Christian. They shop at Christian stores, listen to Christian music, read Christian books, wear Christian clothes, send their kids to Christian Schools, and go to Christian Churches, all in hopes of escaping the world. For such people the Rapture can’t happen soon enough. Their favorite Southern Gospel song? “Getting ready today, pulling out tomorrow, gettin ready to say Goodbye to earthly sorrows… They only venture into the world if they must. To buy groceries, fuel or go to the doctors. The only time the world around them knows they exist is when they make a noise every four years about abortion, homosexuality and those *)** (they say darn) Democrats. I am pretty much an anti-Christian Christian. I am needed much more in the world than in the Christian Ghetto. In the world I am accepted as one of the clan because I am a human being . In many Christian settings I often feel like I need to drop my pants and prove that I am not an uncircumcised Philistine. Bruce Droppings
