Vote McCain! ☀
No. Unless you live in Arizona and will vote in the Republican primary this political season. Or you could wait until 2012 and cast your ballot for the distinguished Admiral’s son in his 77th year on earth, that is, if he chooses to challenge for the presidency again.
But that’s really not the topic of the post here. Instead, just wished to give appreciation and thanks to squashed for his plug of this here humble online abode.
AZSpot takes a different approach to blogging than I do. I tend to quote people I disagree with and explain why I think they’re wrong. AZSpot posts things he finds thought-provoking, usually without commentary or endorsement. And he finds some very, very good things. So, if you’re interested in the sort of thing that would interest a transnational progressive conservative/Anarcho-Christian Libertarian (and who’s not for something in that mix), AZSpot will bring it to you. Expect to disagree with many of the things AZSpot posts—but expect to to disagree in a way that is enriching rather than frustrating.
It seems while I was nestled in the wayworn hills of Pittsburgh during a refreshing sojourn, regrettably, I missed this post.
Allow me to return the love and state that I heartily endorse squashed and his Tumblr endeavor. It is a fount of thoughtful takes and reasoned arguments. I struggle to keep abreast of my Tumblr /following queue, but squashed is one amongst the exceptional subset of Tumblr homes that I will periodically intentionally point my browser to the URL and pore through pages of posts, scouring for pleasing nuggets and hitherto unseen gems. Which is exactly how I arrived at this post.
Regarding the Google ad, as I’ve mentioned before, it’s strictly for amusement purposes.
Also, AZSpot put a large Google-graphic ad at the top of his page. During the 2008 elections, a bit “Vote McCain!” ad appeared there. I’m pretty sure AZSpot was vehemently not a McCain supporter—but the inadvertantly implied endorsement was pretty hilarious.
At one point, I was collecting image snapshots and harbored the notion of beginning another Tumblr devoted to the inanity and ridiculousness of “relevant” Google Adsense algorithm output. Since its inception, I’ve perpetually considered yanking it off, but every now and then, it delivers a chuckle.
And yes, I certainly do not endorse nor subscribe all the thoughts reflected in what I log here. Rather, they’re submissions for your consideration. And mine. As I grow with age, my cultural, economic, political, religious, and social reflections have become less definitive and more open to review. Though, in some other respects, more absolute and steadfast. I’d like to think of the work here as curating eye-opening and enlightened essays and thoughts, but that would be granting myself way too much credit.
It’s just yet another spot on the internet.
