Why I’m kissing Tumblr a sad, sad good-bye ☀
Of which references also, a discussion thread here, banging on Tumblr lack of SEO.
Whatever.
I reckon if blog marketing and SEO tuning is entirely your focus, then Tumblr might not be for you. Go back to WordPress or Google Blogger.
Tumblr excels at allowing you to post a variety of content in a most accessible fashion. How you dress it up is all under your control. And Tumblr sites are as pleasant to view in the mobile browser experience as they are from a desktop OS.
That stated, Tumblr SEO could easily and naturally improve by polishing the archive feature. Not sure the search engine spider bots are properly traversing all the content. I haven’t tried clicking on my own archive link in some time, as the response time is absolutely dreadful. Something simple as /archive/2008/May[/19] would do the trick. More built-in themes with tag support (maybe this already exists, I don’t use them here and the thought of going back and tagging 18 months of posts is mind numbing) might aid SEO too.
