Grasping at Nohow II

bellatoris:

Jimmy Carter - that’s who it is.  I can see it now.  I honestly could not tell who it was supposed to be, and I posted the cartoon merely to reiterate my earlier point, which I’ll quote again: I am incredibly dispirited and disgusted by the attempts to collect all right-wing leaning people into the camp of racist dummies.  According to much of what I see lately, if we didn’t vote for Obama, it is either because we don’t like his skin color, or because we are stupid - or both.  Conservatism has no intellect anymore, declare those who are currently in power.  […R]emember that there are a lot of smart people on both sides of the aisle, and it doesn’t exactly placate the common man to tell him he’s a race driven nitwit.

I am incredibly dispirited and disgusted by right-wing leaning people twisting words and fabricating ill meanings.

Again, here are Jimmy Carter’s actual words:

An overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American.

Please, pray tell, where in that remark is it stipulated that all conservatives are to be tagged as racist dummies?

Let’s breakdown “intensely demonstrated animosity”. Does it take an affliction of victim mentality complex to really equate that phrase to denote all who oppose President Obama? Or is reasonable to believe the expression is simply directed at the birther lunatics refusing to acknowledge President Obama is an American citizen or the rabid protestors equating Obama to Hitler just after a few months into his term?

Really, do people think racism is not a factor at all? Do you not consider the 400% increase in death threats against the president?

Sorry, but the right’s “outrage” over Carter is a smokescreen.
