On Roman Polanski

It utterly sickens me to read (have not listened to or watched any news since his arrest in Zurich) those defending this cowardly filth. To this day, I have never ever watched a Polanski film (well, not entirely true, as I did watch Chinatown, unaware of his involvement), not even viewing one for free as a result of a library checkout or broadcast television. Not that I am a vindictive sort bent on extreme retribution for self avowed child rapists — unlike many that would cast his heart into the pit of doom for his abominable act, I could extend forgiveness to a repentant soul if he submitted to rightful justice being served. My soul, however, screams at the injustice of a privileged film producer skirting the law. Because of acclaimed movie fame, his heinous crime is not to be punished? What if the perpetrator was an unemployed Mexican bricklayer? No doubt the perp would be destined for a long prison stint, longer still if the victim was a rich white girl. Are the people who argue in defense of Polanski based on his artistic contributions for real?

That it’s been 30+ years or that his wife was murdered by the Manson family or even that his victim has forgiven him should not give him a pass from justice.
