Either you are very spiritual but don’t care so much for social justice (although you say you do) or you care a lot about social justice but aren’t very spiritual (although you say you are). Either you’re left or right; the lefts talk about God’s heart for justice and peace but don’t seek God that much and the rights seek God all right, but they haven’t discovered His heart for peace and justice. I dream of a church that tries to incarnate the whole Pentecost, as described in Acts 2. Some Christians just focus on the part where the Christians spoke in tongues. Some just focus on the part where they sold everything they had and shared all things in common. Where are the Christians that focus and practice both parts? We must return to the biblical way of discipleship, we must live like Jesus both when it means performing miracles and killing mammon with simple, generous living. And if we want to do that, we must remain spiritual when we work for peace and justice in this world. the Jesus Manifesto ☀
